Finding it difficult to get to grips with Amendment 3 to BS 7671? Youʼre not alone.
Many installers in the electrical industry are reportedly struggling with the finer details of the changes to the Wiring Regulations.
With Amendment 3 including: definition changes, a change to protection, a reduction in earth loop impedance values, the addition of protective devices, wiring in escape routes, non-combustible consumer unit enclosures and the revision of model inspection, testing certificates and reports, itʼs easy to get lost within the subtext.
Recognising the problems installers face, the NAPIT Trade Association wants to help you distinguish fact from fiction as NAPIT EXPO hits the road this year with nine events throughout June and July, bringing you a comprehensive guide to the changes, without affecting your wallet.
NAPIT have planned the events with tradespeople in mind, recognising that many of you canʼt afford to take time out of your working day. Whilst the seminars start from 4pm, you can join in at anytime throughout the evening, with anything you missed being part of a supporting documents pack on a USB 'toolbox' memory stick, given to every visitor at the show.
From the right type of conduit and cabling for the job to what is classed as an escape route in domestic homes, these free events offer you a complete breakdown of what changes you need to make to comply, whilst ensuring you donʼt get lost in misconceptions.
NAPIT Group Chief Executive Mike Andrews explains: "Ensuring installers receive the support they need will always be a top priority for NAPIT. We have brought together the IET, NAPITʼs own technical experts and key manufacturers to ensure the Roadshow consists of the very best technical advice for all visitors."
The events will showcase the latest Amendment 3 compliant products and also offer the chance to get an exclusive sneak preview of the new and improved NAPIT Desktop 5, due to launch in July, which features Amendment 3 compliant certificates and a user friendly interface, board and circuit manager.
The Roadshow has been met with great enthusiasm from installers. Mike Andrews continued: "We have designed each event so that they are of the utmost benefit to everyone attending. I'm looking forward to meeting visitors at all of the venues and showing you how we can help you and your business."
