This September, NAPIT is encouraging members to use the NAPIT Knowledge Hub CPD platform to refresh their understanding of safe isolation and support the important #Safe4September campaign. The #Safe4September campaign raises awareness of safe isolation, which is incredibly important all year round.

Safe isolation applies to anyone carrying out electrical work in a workplace environment, helping to ensure workers on site are not exposed to potentially fatal danger when working on or near live electrical systems. It is a necessary process undertaken by competent electricians to safely isolate electrical circuits or equipment before electrical work begins.

The NAPIT Knowledge Hub is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) platform for learning and development. NAPIT designed the new platform to help NAPIT members track progress, maintain compliance and future-proof their skills in an ever-changing industry by gaining new qualifications.

The 12 Steps to Safe Isolation module provides essential information on statutory requirements and recognised procedures for isolating electrical equipment safely. It outlines the key steps involved in safe isolation, supporting electricians to carry out work in a controlled manner and reduce the risk of electric shock or injury.

Throughout the course, members may encounter interactive elements such as unmarked questions, click-to-reveal or drag-and-drop activities, and videos. By following the on-screen instructions, members can work through the content at their own pace and engage with the material in a practical way.

By understanding the statutory requirements and recognised procedures covered in the module, members can apply safe isolation practices effectively, maintain compliance and help prioritise a safer working environment.
