NAPIT Goes Pink for Ashgate this Hospice Care Week

This week, from October 5th to 12th, marks Hospice Care Week, and NAPIT is proud to support the campaign through its fundraising efforts for Ashgate Hospice so far this year. Located in North Derbyshire, Ashgate Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care free of charge to people aged 18 and over.

They care for people living with a life-limiting illness, including cancer, neurological diseases, and end-stage heart, kidney and lung diseases. NAPIT fundraising activities this year are part of the organisation’s continuing commitment to supporting Ashgate Hospice and the vital services it provides in the local community.

On September 4th, NAPIT staff completed a 14-mile sponsored walk to raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospice. Members of staff took part in the challenge, following a 14.1-mile circular route through the Peak District around Burbage Rocks, Stanage Edge and Higger Tor.

The mixed-terrain route began at Woodcroft Car Park near Grindleford and took the team across some of the Peak District’s best-known landscapes. Despite challenging weather and terrain, everyone who started the walk successfully completed it in around seven to seven and a half hours.

Along the way, the team met Ashgate supporters who shared their personal connections with the hospice, reminding participants of the difference its care makes to patients and families across the local community.

NAPIT is also backing Go Pink for Ashgate, which runs throughout October. Staff will wear pink to work on October 7th to show their support and help raise awareness of the campaign.

Through the senior leadership team completing a skydive, the Ashgate sparkle walk, bake sales and the sponsored walk, Team NAPIT has raised over £5,700, including Gift Aid, for Ashgate Hospice so far this year.

An Ashgate Hospice spokesperson said: “It is inspiring that NAPIT organised this fundraising event. The team spirit, enthusiasm and dedication shown by everyone involved are truly appreciated. Fundraising efforts like these help ensure we can be there for patients and those important to them, both at home and in the hospice. We are incredibly grateful for their support.”

Stephen Melton, Managing Director said: “Hospice Care Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the essential role a hospice plays, the dedication of their staff and volunteers, and the need to raise awareness of funding pressures and inequalities in access to end-of-life care.

“NAPIT is proud to support Ashgate Hospice and the vital care it provides to people and families across our community.”
