BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 will be the first, full consolidated amendment to the BS 7671:2018 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations, which was first published in 2018. Amendment 2 will come into immediate effect when published on Monday 28th March 2022, with the previous version BS 7671:2018+A1:2020 being withdrawn 6 months later.

In response to a lack of data on the level of unsafe, non-compliant and dangerous electrical work uncovered in home across Great Britain, the Electrical Safety Roundtable and Trustmark have teamed up to create a tool for homeowners, tenants, and electricians to use to report these instances. The reporting tool has been widely supported by participants of the Electrical Safety Roundtable and we at NAPIT support this initiative.

NAPIT welcomes the introduction of new legislation in Wales making electrical safety checks a legal requirement for landlords of all homes. The Welsh Government has confirmed that the Renting Homes (Wales) Act will come into force on the 15th July 2022. The changes will affect all social and private tenants and landlords.

NAPIT have introduced a new membership identity card app to make it quicker and easier for customers to verify the competence of NAPIT members. NAPIT electrical members can now access their new digital ID card anytime and anywhere, be it online or offline.
