
C&G NVQ 5357-43 Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification
The City & Guilds 5357-43 Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification is a workplace competence route for experienced electrical workers who want to become fully qualified electricians. It is suitable for candidates who are already working in the industry and hold relevant technical qualifications. The qualification supersedes the 2357 NVQ and provides a route towards the ECS Gold Card.

Description
The qualification is completed in the candidate’s workplace a performance-based portfolio covering the relevant City & Guilds 5357-43 performance units. Candidates follow either the Installation pathway or the Maintenance pathway and build evidence from naturally occurring workplace activities across domestic, commercial and/or industrial settings.

What will you learn?
Learners develop and demonstrate occupational competence across the mandatory units and their chosen specialist pathway.
- Unit 102: Apply Health, Safety and Environmental Considerations
- Unit 106: Organise and Oversee the Electrical Work Environment
- Unit 118: Termination and Connection of Conductors
- Unit 109: Apply Design and Installation Practices and Procedures (Installation pathway only)
- Unit 110: Apply Practices and Procedures for Maintenance (Maintenance pathway only)
- Unit 113: Inspect, Test and Commission Electrical Systems
- Unit 115: Apply Fault Diagnosis and Rectification
What is the process?
1) Enrol via sales or self-serve, you will receive your booking confirmation with your enrolment forms to complete.
2) Our team will verify and contact you for any certifications to be sent over we will also arrange an initial assessment to ensure you are on the right path
3) Once you have had your initial assessment you will receive login details for your portfolio, you should reach out to your assessor as soon as possible
4) Start gathering evidence to build up your portfolio
5) Workplace visits where we will observe your work either in person or via live stream remotely
6) Once all units are signed off and gone through quality assurance your City & Guilds certificate is claimed
7) After the qualification is complete book your AM2 end-point assessment
8) You have successfully completed the 5357 and AM2 you can join NAPIT Competent Person Scheme and apply for your Gold Card
Who can attend?
This route is intended for those working in the electrotechnical industry who can gather valid workplace evidence and who have already achieved one of the accepted technical qualification routes:
- City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 8202; or
- City & Guilds Level 2 2365 and Level 3 2366; or
- City & Guilds T Level in Building Services Engineering: Electrotechnical
- Learners must have access to suitable workplace activities, including commercial or industrial work where required
- An initial assessment and learner skills scan will be completed before registration
NOTE: Copies of certificates will need to be evidenced at start of enrolment.
Candidates can complete the NVQ at their own pace, HOWEVER you have 36 months to complete.
What opportunities for progression are there?
On successful completion of this qualification, learners may:
- Join NAPIT as a Competent Person
- Learners can progress on to City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations
- The Electrotechnical qualification will also enable learners to progress within employment
- Learners can progress towards the Electrician Plus qualifications
