NAPIT Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week
09 February 2026
National Apprenticeship Week, celebrated from February 9th to 15th, highlights how apprenticeships and skills help businesses build future-ready workforces and open doors to exciting careers. The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2026 is Skills for Life: it all starts with skills.
Whether you’re growing your business, changing your career or stepping into an apprenticeship, it all starts with skills. NAPIT and City & Guilds Training have collaborated on an initiative that aims to make it easier for electrical employers to access high-quality, fully funded apprenticeship programmes for new and existing staff.
This partnership is designed to support the development of the electrical workforce by promoting two structured training routes to NAPIT members: the Installation & Maintenance Electrician (C&G 5357) and Domestic Electrician (C&G 5393) apprenticeships. Both programmes are delivered by City & Guilds Training, who will also manage all administration and compliance, ensuring a seamless experience for employers.
NAPIT also works with colleges and training centres in the UK through a free initiative, NAPIT Foundation. It aims to support learners, raise standards and help build a strong, skilled workforce for the future.
This National Apprenticeship Week, NAPIT want to celebrate apprentices studying at NAPIT Foundation colleges and training centres.
NAPIT Foundation Member EAS Mechanical Training Centre is proud to celebrate the achievements of Maisy Sharp, who is currently studying the Electrical Installation Level 3 course.
Maisy began her apprenticeship in September 2024, motivated by the lack of female representation in the electrical trade. She wanted to challenge herself, gain hands-on experience, and develop her skills in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Like any new challenge, Maisy found getting started in a completely new environment the most difficult part of her journey. She balances work and study by dedicating time on weekends and any available downtime to revision.
Despite challenges, she finds the most exciting part of her apprenticeship is knowing she can continually improve, which motivates her to push forward even when things get tough. For Maisy, an apprenticeship has been the perfect way to combine learning, work, and a busy home life.
Her advice to others considering an apprenticeship? “Meet amazing people, learn valuable skills, and take opportunities beyond your beliefs.” Maisy’s journey is a shining example of dedication, growth, and breaking barriers in the trades.
Sarah Lowe, Finance and Operations Director, said: “It’s important that high-quality training and apprenticeship opportunities are available to the new generation of workers and to those seeking a career change.
“Apprenticeships will play a key role in building the skilled workforce needed to take advantage of opportunities, including those outlined in the Government’s recently released Warm Homes Plan.
“We hope that sharing success stories will encourage more young people to seek learning opportunities to grow their skills.”
