NAPIT Sees First Hand the Impact of Their 2024 Fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer

Back to Article Listing

Each year, NAPIT selects a charity to support through its fundraising efforts, with the chosen cause nominated and voted for by staff. In 2024, Young Lives Vs Cancer became the focus of the team’s fundraising, a decision that carried personal significance for Lindsay Hague, Head of Operations at NAPIT.

Lindsay said: “Having had breast cancer twice from the age of 25, I learnt first-hand the challenges of having a life-threatening illness at a young age.

“Since my own treatment, I’ve tried to help charities like Young Lives Vs Cancer with fundraising so they can provide vital assistance to others facing similar battles.”

The NAPIT team wholeheartedly embraced the challenge, channelling their enthusiasm into a diverse range of fundraising events. The highlight of the year was a demanding 27km walk around Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, which pushed participants to their limits.

The initial fundraising target of £2,500 was shattered by September and in total raised £9,776. The Phenna Group's charity matching program significantly boosted the final total, matching funds raised by NAPIT.

The charity has Homes from Home across the UK, which are free places for families to stay when their child is going through cancer treatment. They are close to principal treatment centres, helping families avoid the extra financial burdens of travel, accommodation and food costs.

Following the fundraising in 2024, Lana Adkin, Communications Officer at NAPIT, had the opportunity to visit one of the Homes from Home, Billy’s House, located in Nottingham, near the Queen’s Medical Centre, on June 18, 2025.

It allowed NAPIT to meet with the Young Lives vs Cancer team and get further insight into how the charity provides support to young cancer patients and families in Nottingham.

Lana said: “Visiting Billy’s House was a great opportunity to see firsthand what the team at Young Lives vs Cancer do. I had the chance to speak with those who are staying at Billy’s House, and the Social Workers who play a key part in supporting families with the challenges that come with a young person’s cancer diagnosis.

Hearing about the efforts of the Young Lives vs Cancer team was incredible. It was also lovely to meet the volunteers and other organisations who have also fundraised for the charity.

Frank Bertie, NAPIT Managing Director, said: “We are so proud to fundraise for Young Lives vs Cancer for our annual fundraiser in 2024. This charity is vital for supporting young cancer patients and their families during such a difficult time.

“The work they do is truly inspiring, and we are so pleased to have been invited to Billy’s House to see the work that takes place and meet the team.”

Lucy Fisher, Fundraising Engagement Manager for Young Lives Vs Cancer, added: “I would personally like to say a huge thank you to Team NAPIT for their incredible fundraising this past year. The support and dedication of your team is what keeps our work going for so many families.”
