Electrician Qualification Pathways
Based on the answers you have provided, the below pathway is recommended for domestic electricians with less than 3 years of experience, who don’t already hold a City & Guilds or EAL Level 2 & 3 diploma.
Follow the arrows and complete each step in order. Each step is a prerequisite for the next, meaning you must complete them in sequence demonstrated, until you reach the AM2ED assessment.
STEP 1 

City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma or LCL Dwellings (ITECEID)
This is where you build your basic domestic electrical knowledge. It gives you the foundations you’ll need before you can prove your experience.If you already hold a level 2 diploma, move to the next step
STEP 2 

City & Guilds NVQ 2347 Experienced Worker Qualification
This is to demonstrate technical knowledge, performance and competence to the industry standards at a level 3, to gain a formal qualification as a Domestic Electrician Experienced Worker.STEP 3 

AM2ED
The AM2ED is the final practical assessment that tests your ability to install, test, and fault-find safely to industry standards and is recognised across the UK.STEP 4 

Apply for the Electrical Certification Scheme
Once you have successfully passed the AM2ED, you will have met the technical qualification requirement to apply to join an Electrical Certification Scheme for domestic only.(Subject to meeting all other scheme entry requirements).
