Electrician Qualification Pathways
The pathway below sets out the required route to demonstrate technical competence so that you meet the qualification requirements to apply to join an Electrical Certification Scheme for all electrical work.
Follow the arrows and complete each step in order. Each step is a prerequisite for the next, meaning you must complete them in sequence demonstrated, until you reach the AM2E assessment.
STEP 1 

Entry Test
The Entry Test assesses your underpinning electrotechnical knowledge. Candidates need to demonstrate this by submitting documentation, completing a technical discussion and a successful entry test result.STEP 2 

City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346)
This qualification allows you to evidence occupational competence using real workplace activity to build a portfolio. Your experience is assessed against the national occupational standards for electrical installation, including inspection and testing.STEP 3 

AM2E
The AM2E is the final practical assessment of competence. It assesses your ability to install, inspect, test, fault-find, and work safely across commercial and domestic electrical installations and is recognised across the UK.STEP 4 

Apply for the Electrical Certification Scheme
Once you have successfully passed the AM2E, you will have met the technical qualification requirement to apply to join an Electrical Certification Scheme.(Subject to meeting all other scheme entry requirements).
