Description
This course is designed to provide installers with the knowledge, skills and understanding to install, commission and maintain solar photovoltaic panels and systems. The course is designed for experienced electricians and gives the fundamental understanding to be able to design, install, inspect & test and maintain a solar photovoltaic system.
It does not cover newer technologies that may be appearing on the market due to improved changes made by manufacturers to their products. The practical element of the course involves the electrical testing required for the system and fitting a panel to an existing simulated roof mounting system. It does not involve work in relation to the roof structure, weight limits, bracket fixing, weather sealing or wind loads.
Successful candidates will receive an awarding body certificate which is one element for membership of a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). Other requirements required are the need for a competent structural engineer, roofer or energy assessor.
