This means being able to prove your practical skills AND underpinning knowledge, to a satisfactory standard. Proof of underpinning knowledge is usually by production of a technical certificate and professional discussion. You will need to gather evidence from the workplace, which will be assessed and verified.
What This Course Covers
There are 5 Level 3 Performance Units to be assessed before you can gain this Experienced Worker qualification:
- Unit 102 – Health, Safety and Environmental Considerations in Dwellings
- Unit 106 – Plan and Oversee the Electrical Work Activities in Dwellings
- Unit 109 – Apply Design and Installation Practices including Terminations and Connection of Conductors in Dwellings
- Unit 113 – Inspect, Test Report and Commission Electrical Systems in Dwellings
- Unit 115 – Apply Fault Diagnosis and Rectification in Dwellings
The Process
You will need to gather evidence from the workplace, which will be assessed and verified.
- The evidence should indicate that you are working to the standards expected of an electrician, over a variety of activities, and, have an understanding of the appropriate electrical theory.
- The assessment process involves working with your assessor to produce a portfolio of evidence using the e-Portfolio system, OneFile. This will be assessed and verified prior to being submitted to City and Guilds for approval. Your assessor will provide you with ongoing support and feedback until you successfully complete your NVQ.
- Once you have completed the qualification process you will then take your AM2ED practical assessment. The AM2ED mirrors the AM2S, If you already have your AM2 you can contact NET and, as soon as your qualifications are verified, you will be invited to undertake a bridging assessment at a significantly lower cost than taking the new AM2ED Practical Assessment from scratch
- Once you have completed the qualification and successfully passed the AM2ED you have completed the Experienced Worker Assessment. Candidates can complete the NVQ at their own pace, as quick as 2 months to a maximum of 18 months.
