Are you an experienced heating engineer with hands-on air source heat pump and F-Gas expertise, and a passion for passing on your skills? As demand for low carbon heating grows, this is your chance to play a key part in training the installers who will deliver it.

NAPIT is looking for a Heating Tutor to deliver Air Source Heat Pump and F-Gas training and assessment to learners across the UK.

The Role

Working from our Mansfield, Potters Bar or Bristol centre, and travelling nationwide as required, you'll help learners meet the highest industry standards while building long-lasting relationships with our customers.

Your expertise will be key in ensuring our customers remain compliant and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Air Source Heat Pump and F-Gas training courses to a consistently high standard.
  • Conduct assessments of NAPIT Training customers, ensuring compliance with the requirements of Awarding Organisations and Certification Bodies, e.g. BPEC, LCL Awards.
  • Deliver training and assessment at NAPIT centres and other locations nationwide, as required.
  • Support the development of training and assessment resources.
  • Build relationships with NAPIT Training customers while providing an excellent service.
  • Respond to technical enquiries from customers and others regarding the implementation of relevant regulations, codes of practice and British Standards.
  • Comply with the requirements of the staff handbook, health and safety policies, and all other relevant policies.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to your competence, as required by your line manager.

Who We Are Looking For

Technical qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
  • Recognised Air Source Heat Pump qualification (e.g. BPEC, LCL Awards or City & Guilds).
  • F-Gas Category 1 qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2079, LCL Awards or BESA).
  • Unvented Hot Water (G3).
  • Water Regulations.

Teaching & assessment qualifications

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Assessor qualification, such as TAQA Level 3 or legacy A1 / D32–D33 awards.

Experience & knowledge

  • A minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience installing and commissioning domestic air source heat pumps.
  • Experience working with refrigerant systems, including fault-finding and servicing.
  • Understanding of MCS requirements, heat loss calculations and system design.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards and F-Gas regulations.

  • A self-motivated individual with strong organisational skills, able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Willing to travel nationwide, with overnight stays where required.
  • A full driving licence.

Desirable

  • IQA qualification or equivalent.
  • Membership of professional bodies such as CIBSE or CIPHE.
  • Experience delivering Low Temperature Heating & Hot Water Systems training.
  • Further renewable energy qualifications, such as Ground Source Heat Pumps, Biomass or Solar Thermal.
