Supporting World EV Day to Drive Change to a Decarbonised Society

Back to Article Listing

September 9th marks World EV Day, an awareness day to promote the shift to electric vehicles worldwide. A key message from World EV Day officials is ‘drive change’ to support the shift to a decarbonised society.

Installers are at the forefront of the journey towards decarbonisation, and there must be competent and qualified installers to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicle chargepoint (EVCP) installations.

The government aims to reach net zero by 2050. Low-carbon technologies and a skilled workforce are key to reaching this target. Most recently, the government announced the Electric Car Grant (ECG) scheme that will offer discounts up to £3,750 for new eligible EVs priced at or under £37,000, with funding available until the 2028/2029 financial year.

To ensure an infrastructure is in place for car users to charge their vehicles, a competent EVCP installation workforce is needed. Across six NAPIT Training centres in the UK, NAPIT offers a course for installers on how to install electric vehicle charging equipment safely.

A competent EVCP installation workforce is necessary to ensure that there is sufficient infrastructure in place for car users to charge their vehicles. NAPIT Training offers a Level 3 Award in the Installation and Commissioning of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment.

Motorists can use the NAPIT Member Search to find NAPIT-registered members who can carry out EVCP installations.

Frank Bertie, NAPIT Managing Director, said: “NAPIT is committed to raising the standards of electric vehicle chargepoint installations and supporting its members. NAPIT members will play a key part in making sure that there are registered, competent and qualified installers to install low-carbon technologies like EVCP.”
