Unfortunately, this is outside of our remit
NAPIT are unable to handle complaints where the Business/Trade Person is no longer legally trading.
We recommend you check the documentation provided by the Business/Trades Person upon completion, to check whether there is any kind of insurance against their workmanship, such as an Insurance Backed Guarantee or if notified to NAPIT a Work Quality Guarantee.
The NAPIT Work Quality Guarantee applies to work for which a legitimate Building Regulation Compliance Certificate has been issued. The Guarantee applies for a period of six years and is an assurance of compliance with the Building Regulations.
Provided the installer named on the certificate is still trading they must comply with this Guarantee. In the event that the installer is no longer trading, and subject to the Terms and Conditions, NAPIT will take responsibility for bringing the work into compliance with the Building Regulations.
Alternatively, you could speak with citizens advice, trading standards or seek legal advice to query what other options are available to you.
