NAPIT’S RENEWABLE ENERGY TRAIN TO GAIN
Looking ahead to the future NAPIT have been training their staff on renewable energy in preparation for gaining approval to run a Microgeneration Scheme for members.
The renewable energy course, provided by Ecoskies of Duckmanton in Chestefield, covered five different microgeneration technologies applied to buildings:
• Photo-voltaic systems
• Solar heating systems
• Wind turbines
• Air source heat pumps
• Ground source heat pumps
NAPIT technical staff and field officers have undertaken an in-depth course on these subjects with further training on technical auditing and on-site inspections planned for early 2009. General office staff also took a basic course to gain an understanding of the technology, ready for the launch of the NAPIT Microgeneration Scheme. The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has recognised NAPIT as one of the schemes to be developed subject to further UKAS approval visits as NAPIT’s systems are demonstrated.
