NAPIT Responds to Home Information Pack Consultation
NAPIT has responded to the Government’s recent consultation on the Home Information Pack which ended this month.
Taking feedback from members on this website’s Forum and at recent seminars NAPIT expressed a desire to see the HIPs used as an opportunity to underpin and promote the use of competent, registered installers.
Responding to statistics that 43% of failed transactions result from inspections and surveys done after the sale has been agreed, NAPIT observed that the Home Condition Report (HCR) did not demand electrical certificates or Building Regulations certificates and that the HCR was in any case a voluntary element. NAPIT urged the DCLG to consider strengthening the use of such information since it was already available and could be delivered at negligible cost.
The full text of the NAPIT submission is posted in the Members’ Forum under the discussion topic Home Information Pack.
